Art at Ë®¹ûÅÉ
Dedicated to the study, history, production and theory of art, Ë®¹ûÅÉ's art department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in either art history or studio art.
As part of the broader liberal arts curriculum, we encourage creative approaches to learning in all disciplines and between both art history and studio art. Involvement in the department may mean taking a class, pursuing a major or minor, or becoming a part of our community beyond the classroom that includes gifted professors, connected alumni and involved students.
We welcome all students to our community of artists, no matter your background or previous experience.

In addition to connecting with faculty over office hours and department events, current art students should feel empowered to take advantage of these many resources including our honors program, research and creative work opportunities and student involvement beyond the classroom.
Are you a prospective student with a demonstrated talent and promise in the field of studio art? Learn more and apply for this competitive scholarship, valued at $15,000 annually and awarded to one student in each first-year class. Recipients are not required to major in art.
Ë®¹ûÅÉ offers an ongoing series of exhibitions and lectures by visiting artists and scholars.
Explore senior studio art majors' solo art exhibits. Students' online exhibits include a virtual gallery, artist talk and studio tour.
Malú Alvarez Visual Art Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first year each year who is passionate about and displays a strong history of engagement with the visual arts. Malú Alvarez Visual Art Scholarship recipients actively engage in the Art Department, in classes, and in other departmental activities outside of class such as gallery openings and engaging with visiting artists, adding to the life of the department and to the programming of the Van Every/Smith Galleries. It is awarded through the college’s office of financial aid in collaboration with the art faculty. The Malú Alvarez Visual Art Scholarship is need-based and does not require an additional application.
