Critical Language Scholarship Program

The  is a summer intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program.

Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying that are critical to national security and economic prosperity. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

Students interested in studying Arabic, Chinese, or Russian through a summer virtual program should consider .

Eligibility

  • Class year: Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at the time of application
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizenship at the time of application

Other eligibility guidelines:

  • Be at least 18 years old by May of the year your CLS Program begins
  • Some  require previous study. For CLS Spark, no previous formal classroom experience learning the language is required.
